Article: Are You Running On Empty?

How far can you drive on empty?

Our Minds and our Bodies need regular replenishment of fuels to keep them going! They are very much like a car which needs gasoline or diesel fuel to operate. Those in the Body of Christ, given God's Holy Spirit at Baptism need to renew that Spirit on a regular basis, or like a fire which burns low; that Spirit can be extinguished and die.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 "Quench not the Spirit."

God's Plan is for those of us currently working out our own salvation, preaching the Gospel of His Coming Kingdom to this earth, and who are preparing themselves for the Jobs they will hold in this new Divine world order (Revelation 5:9-10, 20:4 & 6), is to also encourage one another now; when they see that a brother's or sister's fuel gauge is on "Empty", or maybe a little past it!

The more you associate with another person, the closer you will become to them. You will get to feel their pulse and become more aware of what is going on in their lives.

Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

God gives us some good advice on how to handle the highs and lows that our brethren experience.

1 Corinthians 12:26 "whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it."

Remember, God's desire is that we refine ourselves into His Son's very image (both in the flesh, and later in the spirit); and we should also keep in mind that The Father sent us Jesus Christ, His Son, in the flesh to show us exactly HOW to accomplish that tremendous feat (1 John 3:1-3 / Luke 6:46)!

Our job as the Body of Christ is to help one another, encourage one another, love one another, and be there for one another; as we all let The Master Potter mold us into something that Honors and Edifies Him!

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

As a man who has pushed the limits of how far I could go past "empty" many times, I have always appreciated those brothers and sisters who were there for me at my weakest and darkest times. Their travailing with me in prayer and fellowship got me through many trials, until I again found a wide place to relax and refresh my mind in. I have learned to ask our Father, to give me a little can of gasoline, that I always carry with me; for that brother or sister I see stranded on the shoulder of the road with their needle pointing to "Empty". I have also been humbled on many occasions, to wait with my hood up; waiting for that special someone our LORD will send my way, with a can of gas, a kind word, and a helping hand. May we all be Blessed to both give and receive to each other's needs, in Love, until Christ returns!

Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend!"
