BIBLE STUDY: Copying Christ (Part Two) – The Gap Between Believing In And Following Jesus

Did you know that Satan and his demons believe in God, and in Jesus Christ (James 2:19 / Mark 5:7 / Luke 8:28)? Yet they do not follow God’s Laws and are disobedient to the One who made them! Simply “believing in Jesus Christ”, is not the same as “following Jesus Christ!” True worshippers of God must hear, understand, and do the will of God – so says the Bible, if they are truly going to copy Christ and walk in His very footsteps (Luke 6:46 / 1 John 2:3-6)!

Instructions: One Nation Under God Ministries (www.onug.us) publishes and distributes weekly Bible Studies, worldwide – free of charge, to anyone who requests them, in both printed and electronic formats. Our Studies are intended to be a simple and fun way to learn the Scriptures, and are very easy to follow! We adhere to Jesus Christ’s Biblical instructions to teach and feed the flock of God portions of meat in due season, on weekly Sabbaths, and on the seven annual Holy Days throughout each calendar year (Luke 12:42 / Isaiah 28:9-10 / Matthew 13:52). Using both the Old and New Testaments, our Bible Studies are designed to present a premise, make a statement, or ask a question – followed by one or more Scriptural references. Just look up and read from your Bible the Scriptures listed. Comments following questions elaborate on the Scriptures you just read. Pray always before beginning any study of God’s Word, asking God to open both your eyes and your mind to His Truth; then Prove everything you read, is in fact the Truth, by comparing it to The Word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21 / 2 Timothy 3:15-17). Then use the Biblical System of Checks and Balances, and SEE if both Jesus Christ, and the First Century Church of God Apostles – also Did, Said, and Taught these SAME THINGS (Galatians 1:1-12, 5:25 / 1 Peter 2:21, 25 / 1 John 2:3-6)! That’s all there is to it! Our Bible Studies are based on the King James Version, unless otherwise stated. We will be praying for your eyes to “see” (Matthew 13:11-17); and we are always available to answer any of your questions! Be Blessed, in Jesus’ Name! - One Nation Under God Ministries (www.onug.us).

Do you realize that Satan and millions of his demons (God’s fallen angels) know more about God the Father and Jesus Christ than you or I ever will in the flesh? The angels were created in the beginning, at Creation (Genesis 2:1), and for almost 6,000 years now, have existed as immortal spirit beings. From day one of their existence (sometime during the creation week) the angels have possessed super-human intelligence and mental capacity. They have spirit bodies, can never die, and have been made privy to the real Kingdom Plans of God’s Coming Worldwide Government (The Gospel), by the Most High, Himself!!! Angels have actually seen the face of God, they have spoken to Jesus Christ both in His glorified state, and when He was a mere human on earth during the time of His earthly ministry (Exodus 33:8-23 / Revelation 1:9-20). Human Saints must wait until the return of Jesus Christ and until our transformation into 100% spirit beings, before we can see Jesus Christ as He actually looks today (1 John 3:1-2 / Daniel 12:1-3); and all of humanity must wait 1,100 years from the time of Christ’s Second Coming, and be transformed into Spirit beings, before they can actually see God the Father, in person (Revelation 21:1-8).

Demons “know” what their fate is (Matthew 8:28-29, 25:41 / Revelation 20:1-3, 7-10), and they “know” what God has in store for this world and humanity in the years ahead. However, they want to make sure you and I NEVER find out what that plan really is!!! Every demon in existence today has personally known Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, King David, everyone of your parents, their parents, their parents’ parents (Acts 19:15-16); and they know who you are too! Demons can “see” the sign of God (Exodus 31:12-18) on those sanctified by God; and they can also see the mark of the beast on those under the control of Satan (Revelation 20:4, 13:1-18). But, rather than love us as children of the Most High God, and help guide us on our path to salvation, as was their original mission; the demons have perverted their purpose for existing, and now live only to deceive us, to lie to us, to have us die the second death in the lake of fire (Hebrews 1:10-14 / John 8:44-45, 10:7-16).

Demons can recite the Bible better than any preacher, in any language; and yet they do not, they cannot, follow or obey God! Their character has been irrevocably changed from good to worse; and it will never change back again to its original state! That is why God is having us qualify for eternal life here on earth – in the flesh. God will not allow those who refuse to follow His Son’s footsteps into the Kingdom of God, nor give them the gift of eternal life (Revelation 21:6-8, 22:14-15). www.onug.us

Demons possess greater spiritual knowledge than any human on earth, yet they cannot put that knowledge to its proper use. They must twist it, malign it, and they must profane the Truth of God because their god Satan demands exactly that of all his demon and human followers (John 10:10 / Revelation 12:4, 9 / John 8:44-45 /2 Corinthians 11:13-15)!

The Demons Believe in Jesus (Matthew 8:29 / Luke 4:33-35)!!! They are “Believers” in the truest sense of the Word (James 2:18-20)! The demons Believe in God and even in His Plan; yet the demons do not have works (meaning they are DISOBEDIENT to the Word of God – Jesus Christ!). The demons can never again be “Followers of Christ”. They can never again keep God’s True Holy Days or His seventh day Sabbath as they once did (Isaiah 58:13-14)! The same is True for the Saints of God, if after learning the Truth and being Baptized in Jesus Name, they fall away (quench the holy spirit in them) and die in that fallen away state (Hebrews 6:4-6, 8 / John 15:1-6 / 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24). Now you know, Satan and his demons will do everything they can in order to prevent YOU from keeping God’s Holy Feast Days – because that is when and where you learn and perfect the Plan and Will of God!!!

The demons know that the Godhead consists of ONE - God the Father; and that His Son, our High Priest, sits at His Right Hand (Revelation 22:1, 3, 6-7). They know the Truth, they believe the Truth, yet they do not follow the Truth, nor do they want you and I to know the TRUTH (Deuteronomy 6:4 / Matthew 8:29 / Mark 1:24, 5:7, 12:29-30 / Luke 4:34 / Acts 19:15). Stop being just a “Believer” in Jesus Christ – there are 50 million of demons, along with billions of “Christians” in the world today, who are Believers in Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:21-27, 25:10-13 / Luke 6:46-49 / Romans 2:11-16); start today to learn who The Christ really is, what He said, and what He taught! Once you have studied the Bible (Isaiah 28:9-10 /Matthew 13:52) and proven what is The Will of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21), become a “Follower”, a “doer” of everything Jesus Christ our High Priest showed us we should do (Hebrews 4:14-16 / John 10:27-28 / 1 John 2:1-6). Let us Copy Christ!!! www.onug.us

True Christianity is not merely a set of beliefs, it is not joining a church, it is not something practiced for a few hours on Sunday, or one day a week, or at odd intervals. True Christianity is a way of life, giving up your own self direction and taking on Christ’s direction and guidance in your life, as our High Priest (Matthew 11:29-30)!!! A High Priest’s job is to direct worship to His God, to our God; and that is exactly what Jesus does for us!

In Part One of this study, we learned how the first century church referred the original Christianity as “The Way of The LORD” (Acts 18:25); or as “The Way of God” (Acts 18:26). Christianity is a path that we must follow (Proverbs 3:1-16 / John 14:6)! Jesus Christ is our Guide on that path (John 14:5-7, 1:4, 14, 17, 10:9, 11:25)

Jesus Christ Is Our High Priest In Every Age (Hebrews 13:8):

Many Christians today do not know who Melchizedek was. Of those that do, many are confused about his identity. Do you know who he is?

We can read in Hebrews 6:19-20 that Jesus Christ, after His resurrection, is High Priest "after the order of Melchizedek." The Moffatt translation writes it as, "with the rank of", or having equal status with Melchizedek. Melchizedek Was God's Priest (Malachi 3:6)! Both Old and New Testaments tell us that Melchizedek was a priest of the Most High God.

In Genesis 14 we find that during a war between a number of ancient kingdoms in Canaan and Mesopotamia; Abraham's nephew Lot had been captured, and he and his family with their possessions were carried away. One of their number escapes and brings news to Abraham, who armed 318 of his own servants and pursued the invaders to the place that would later be named “Dan” and beyond. Abraham rescues Lot and his family, and returns them safely to their Canaanite cities. On Abraham's return trip, he was ministered to by Melchizedek (Genesis 14:1-24). Melchizedek was king of Salem (Genesis 1:18), or the city of Jerusalem! "Salem" comes from the Hebrew word meaning "peace." That would make Melchizedek the "King of Peace", the Hebrew name Melchizedek itself means "King of Righteousness" (Hebrews 7:2 / Psalm 110:4 / Hebrews 5:6, 10). Christ is, according to God: "The Eternal hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a Priest forever after the Order of Melchizedek." Jesus, our Priest, has never changed, and will never change (Hebrews 13:8)!!! www.onug.us

The land of Canaan from ancient times, before the days of Moses, has always been known among the Gentiles as "the divine land", “the Holy Land", “the land of the place of worship".  Why? Who was there in ancient times, before Moses, who was divine, holy, and worthy of worship (Daniel 7:21-22)?

"For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace" (Hebrews 7:1-2). God names individuals after what they are! The King of Righteousness, Melchizedek, was Jesus Christ Himself - in His Glorified state (John 1:18, 5:37 / 1 Corinthians 10:1-4)!!!

Only in the flesh did Jesus not magnify Himself as righteous, but the Father only (Matthew 19:17). Human self-righteousness before God is like filthy rags. None can be righteous but God; or now, since the Resurrection of Christ, you and I can be made righteous by God's power, the Holy Spirit, inside us - Christ in a person (John 14:23)!!! Righteousness is obedience to God's Law (Psalm 119:172). Since God made all laws (James 4:12), He is Supreme Ruler or KING of kings. He determines what righteousness is (Isaiah 55:7-9).

Our High Priest, Jesus, clearly puts Himself above or superior to His Laws. When speaking of one of the high points of that Law, Jesus placed Himself superior to it as “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28). No sinful human is Lord or King over God's Laws, only God is! Every human has sinned, and has broken that perfect Law of Righteousness (Romans 3:23)! We need a High Priest to direct our worship to God, and that High Priest always has been Jesus Christ, Melchizedek, the Son of the Living God, Who leads the way to salvation (John 10:1-5 / Ezra 2:62 / John 15:6-7)! In the days of Abraham, Jesus was not yet “the Son of God”, for He had not yet been born of the virgin Mary; but He was made “like unto the Son of God” in His manifestation to the ancients (Daniel 3:25). Jesus was, is today, and shall forever be our High Priest (Revelation 1:8, 11, 17-19, 2:7, 11, 16-17, 26-29, 21:6-7, 22-23, 22:7, 12-14)! Let us Copy Christ!!! www.onug.us

Are You Teachable Before Your High Priest (Proverbs 8:32)?

Do you have a burning desire to learn Who God really is and what He wants from us? For most “Christians”, it is difficult for them to learn, because they don’t know the keys to being teachable. God has a lot to say in the Bible about teaching His children knowledge (Hosea 4:6 / Revelation 5:9-10, 20:4 & 6 / Leviticus 26:23-25 / Proverbs 8:32-36 / Amos 5:4 / Ezekiel 3:7, 10-11 / Galatians 6:16)! God wants us to internalize His Message and His Words, until they become part of us – a living conviction that we exemplify each and every day, in every way of conduct and expression!

Anyone who teaches human relations and morality desires to see evidence that their students (disciples) have truly learned from their instruction. Parent do this to their human children, and God does this to His Children! The proof appears when a student's life changes! When that happens, it is easy to see that they were redirected from the wrong path of thinking and living, onto the right path (Proverbs 3:1-26). But we must feel a real need to understand God! Many people have a curiosity toward God, but it is usually short-term (Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23). A sustained desire for understanding, a keen curiosity to know more about God in order to have a closer relationship with Him, only comes from Him (Philippians 2:13)! The desire to Copy Christ, and the desire to teach others to Copy Christ, only comes from Jesus Himself (John 15:16-17)! www.onug.us

If we find ourselves lagging in our desire to learn, as evidenced by not listening, not studying, praying, and meditating daily, then we must pray fervently for God to give us a greater desire to obey Him, learn from Him, and have the proper fear of Him (Psalm 25:12). Do you have “The Fear of God” in you (Psalm 111:10)?

God has unique instructions for each of us, that He desperately wants to teach, but only to those who fear Him! We cannot properly fear God if we do not include Him in every aspect of our lives! If our world is framed by God, then we will be highly sensitized to His work within us. He uses every part of our daily lives to teach us; including how we relate to our spouses, our children, our co-workers, our friends, our neighbors, and our brethren. We are judged now, in this life; by how we respond to the very unique situations that God has specifically arranged for us (1 Peter 4:16-18 / Proverbs 3:1-6)!

Here are some good questions that we ought to ask ourselves:

- How do we respond to someone who is important in our lives when they don’t meet our expectations? Is our choice of action one of anger, bitterness, fatalism, depression, insolence, disrespect, or even divorce? We should begin to realize, once we commit to following Christ, that the nature of all future trials is ideal for us – because it has been now been designed for us, personally, by God (Romans 8:28-39)! God formulates the perfect lesson plan for us individually; one that will yield maximum personal growth, if we can just recognize His unseen Hand – and realize what He is trying to teach us! God gave us Jesus, because He is the Master Teacher! We must learn to become the model pupil. We must learn to Copy Christ!

If we do not pass a particular test, God does not just skip the lesson. We can trust that He will faithfully bring it back to us again later; so that we can learn to yield to His Will, and truly learn a divinely taught lesson! Later trials are usually more severe and of greater intensity, because learning occurs best when the student's attention is focused, and when there is pain or loss associated with failure! If we are going to be stupid, we better be tough! :o) But toughen us up the Father will; and He will stay on the job until we learn the lesson still (Proverbs 13:24)!

- How do we respond to our children? Children are our first tests in being teachers like God. Are we molding and instructing them, or are they raising themselves? Have you given up and let Satan's world raise them? Do we communicate well with them, and do we look for ways to improve our communication skills with our kids? Do our kids love, respect, and honor us? Do they come to us for advice and counsel? Or are they afraid, depressed, or even rebellious? Christ taught us that God raises His Kids (us) with lots of structure; maybe we should Copy Christ and adopt that Same Structure with our kids (Proverbs 22:6)!

- How do we respond to a troublesome boss or co-worker? Do we murmur against him, and attack their character? Do we beat our chests and say that we could do a much better job? Are we striving to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9 / Proverbs 15:1-2)?

- How do we respond to people in the Body of Christ, God’s Church, those whom God is clearly calling out of this world along with us? Do we avoid certain people? Do we hold grudges against those who may have offended us (Romans 12:17-19 / Matthew 18:21-22)? www.onug.us

God will use our “little human worlds” to teach us how to live His Way, if we will only listen! The trials of our lives are really pop quizzes that God gives us to see how we will handle a particular situation! A few tests come pre-planned, specifically designed just for us, like the travails of growing up, the death of our parents, choosing a mate, dealing with children, becoming old, getting a sickness or disease. We should know they are just preludes to the BIG trials that are yet to come upon us (1 Corinthians 10:11-13 / James 1:2-4). Our testing through trials comes from God, so we should feel happy and BLESSED to know that God is working with us in such an individual, personal way!!!

How many of us, in the midst of a very difficult trial, stop to reflect, then acknowledge and THANK GOD for seeing fit to give us such a custom made “test” of our strength and faith in Him? Testing is a natural consequence of His teaching and brings us to spiritual maturity. His teachings, tests, and trials (sometimes really awful problems and / or tragedies) give us the critical skills necessary to do the work He has in store for us (Matthew 5:10-16 / Proverbs 22:6)!!! If you don’t GROW, you can’t GO – to the marriage supper of The Lamb! We grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and sometimes physically when we Copy Christ in ALL things!

A Few Biblical Keys to Becoming Teachable:     www.onug.us

1. A teachable person studies God's Word (Deuteronomy 17:18-20 / Acts 17:11).

2. A teachable person is attentive (Isaiah 51:1 /Matthew 13:16-17).

3. A teachable person seeks God (Jeremiah 29:13-14 / Proverbs 2:3-6).

4. A teachable person is humble (Psalm 25:9 / Proverbs 11:2).

5. A teachable person is meek (James 1:21, 3:13).

Most people are rarely interested in learning from others; they are more interested in defending their positions!!! Especially in “Christian” circles, most will staunchly defend their positions in the face of all of the evidence (aka “Scriptures” – or Isaiah 28:9-10) pointing to the contrary! That is pride at work! And we must defend against pride taking root inside us! That is why God gives us one day in seven to spend His Day “learning” and “absorbing” Wisdom from On High! That is why God gives us Seven Annual Holy Days each and EVERY year of the remainder of our lives! Are YOU willing to Copy Christ by going to school when God tells YOU to go? Most people alive today will NOT bend their knee to Him.

Such people cannot learn because they are always trying to convince others rather than receive instruction! www.onug.us

Christ is our High Priest, He is our Teacher, our Example to FOLLOW and LEARN from! Adopt a teachable attitude before Christ the KING! Put what you know about something, or “think” you know about a given subject, out of your mind for the moment; listen to a new explanation, a new insight, and ponder it; then PROVE IT by the Holy Word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you are asked for your experienced insight on a matter, or your opinion, then by all means share it. Otherwise, hold what you know in abeyance, so that you can benefit from what might just be a divinely appointed NEW learning opportunity (Matthew 5:5-12). Christ learned as a human for 30 years before He began His earthly ministry. How long have you studied God’s Truth as a disciple (student) before you became an apostle (teacher)? Maybe we should Copy Christ, and thoroughly learn before we teach. The disciples spent more than 3 years, daily at Christ’s side before they began to teach; and even then they had much growing to do (John 16:12-15). It was ten years after the church began that God called the Gentiles to faith in Christ (Acts 10:1-48), and years after that, that God had even more lessons in store for His church leadership (Acts 15:5-18). When we Copy Christ, we realize that we never stop learning!

If you are asking questions, then you are in a learning dialogue with your teacher. Most competent teachers encourage students to ask questions. There is no substitute for experience! Once you have experienced something, you will accept the validity of your teacher's explanations. Trust, but verify everything by God’s Word (John 10:4-5)! We must approach learning God’s Truth with a humble and meek disposition (not arrogance and contention). Have we put what we think about something – what “we think we know” aside long enough for God to put His instruction inside us? Are we really being teachable (Revelation 3:17 / 2 Corinthians 13:5)? Totally surrender yourself before the High priest. Empty yourself of all that you were and are today; and then let Christ remake you in His Image (1 John 3:1-4)! That is How Jesus taught us to Copy Christ, until we become EXACTLY like Jesus Christ!!!

True Conversion is becoming a True Christian!

Becoming a Real Christian involves every moment of every day! Real Christianity should guide our every activity, our every social situation, our every endeavor, our every goal, and every plan we ever make! Christ has revealed the Father’s Laws, His Will, and His Words to us; and we should realize that they have a direct bearing on every facet of our lives!!! We should let Jesus the Christ rule our every thought (2 Corinthians10:1-5). A Real Christian follows Christ’s example, and prays for God’s help, wisdom, love, and guidance in their daily activities. He or She will be carefully and diligently studying the Scriptures, researching all the examples of Christ revealed in the Bible. They will never follow a Jesus made up in someone else’s mind, or one of the many false Christs given to us by Satan (1 John 3:1-10).

Jesus is coming very soon to REWARD and to BLESS those who carry the Sign of the Creator God (Matthew 16:24-27 / Revelation 22:11-14)!!! www.onug.us

May we all COPY CHRIST; and LIVE!!!

We are honored that you joined us in the Study of God’s Word!We hope that you will join us next week, as we continue to look at more of what The Bible really says about How and Why we must copy the man, Jesus the Christ!

God is calling YOU to be a follower of Jesus Christ, and the first century church, can you hear His Voice (1 John 2:6 / Matthew 11:29)? The Sabbath and Holy Days show us God’s Plan. When we keep these Holy Days we become the very Voice of God to this fallen world; we are in effect saying, by our actions on each Feast Day, “Come LORD Jesus, Come” (Revelation 22:12, 17, 20-21)!!! We are actually confessing Christ before men (Matthew 10:32-33)!

The faithful and obedient in Christ will always keep God’s True Holy Days and Sabbath; and will reject the pagan lies and substitutions of God’s TRUTH (Revelation 22:11-15)! God’s Holy Days are meant for Christians to ENJOY! They truly are FEAST DAYS, meant to be enjoyed by God’s elect everywhere, throughout time, FOREVER!!!

If you have never faithfully kept God’s seventh day Sabbath holy or God’s Holy Days, the way Jesus Christ did – in the flesh, and in the fellowship of other followers of the Son of Man; we invite you to obediently enter into God’s rest today, and to keep the Feasts of the LORD (Hebrews 4:1-11 / Leviticus 23:1-44)! Contact us to find out where we fellowship and worship God, in your area, on His Sabbath Days (Exodus 31:12-18). We would love to hear from you and help get you started! :o)

”But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:26-30).

Christians must learn to read the Bible, interpret the scriptures according to Biblical principles (Isaiah 28:9-10, / Matthew 13:52), and begin to apply the precepts they learn in their walk with God. Individual study is essential; coupled with fellowship times of group study, worship, and discussions of personal insights and observations.

We strive, each Saturday, to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere where Spirit led confirmation, clarification, questions, and correction can be made in the fellowship of other students of God’s Word.

One Nation Under God (www.onug.us) is working to unify the body of Christ in the worship of God the Father, in the way Jesus showed us to - in Spirit and in Truth! We strive to promote rediscovery of American History, and renew in current generations the Vision and the Covenant of our Founding Fathers.
