BIBLE STUDY: Explaining God’s Holy Days To Your Kids

One Nation Under God U.S.A. Ministries (

Today most of the world keeps holidays for all sorts of reasons. But long ago, The Creator God gave mankind very special days called, “Holy Days”, to teach all of us how God the Father is going to send Jesus Christ back to earth again; to get rid of the devil, and then Jesus is going to make everything here just like it was in the Garden of Eden!

What are some of the holidays you grew up keeping? Everyone usually has a favorite they like the most. Which holiday is your favorite?

God commanded His people to teach their children about His Commandments, which also included keeping God’s Holy Days at special times throughout the year. God wants us to keep them each and every year until Jesus comes back! Each generation was supposed to teach their children the same things their parents taught them. In this way, knowledge of how to obey God and worship Him correctly would not get lost or forgotten throughout time. But that didn’t always happen.

Has your Mom or Dad ever asked you to clean your room, cut the grass, or take out the trash, and you forgot to do it? Sometimes it takes parents giving their kids a few reminders or they forget what their parents told them to do. Sometimes people can be a lot like kids when God tells them to do something… they forget! Without constant reminders from God, people usually always forget what God told them to do! That’s what we call human nature – apart from God, and it always gets us into trouble!

If you grew up never learning about God’s True Holy Days until now, it is probably because somewhere in your family tree, a long time ago; someone didn’t obey God, and stopped keeping God’s Holy Days, or maybe their children grew up and decided that following the world’s (and Satan’s) way was more fun than doing it God’s Way! When that happened, their children, and their grand children grew up never learning about God’s instructions.

Most people alive in the world today, are not keeping God’s Holy Days, because one or more of their relatives stopped following God many, many years ago! That made the devil real happy! To keep it that way, Satan made his ministers appear just like the ministers of God, so they could fool lots of people; then they could tell their churches that they didn’t need to keep God’s Sabbath or His Holy Days anymore! Let’s read 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 and see this for ourselves.

Jesus told us to Watch Out for Wolves Hiding in Sheep’s Clothing!

Just like a big, bad wolf can sneak up and attack a little lamb if it is not careful; Satan and his demons can sneak up on us, and make us forget to do the things God told us to do. When that happens, and we drift away from God, the wolves can jump on us, and eat us up without worrying about the Sheppard (or Jesus) coming to save us!

These ministers of Satan are really clever, most are really nice, and appear very cheerful and kind on the outside. But Jesus told us to watch out for people that teach things that are opposite of what God tells us to do in the Bible! Jesus says they are like hungry wolves wanting to tear you apart spiritually, with their very sharp teeth. Jesus said we can tell who the wolves are by what Holy Days and Sabbath Day they keep. Let’s read what Jesus said about these false ministers in Matthew 7:15-20.

Jesus says a false minister is anyone who teaches people to do things Jesus told them not to do! Jesus said you can tell who they really are on the inside, by what they tell their churches to do – and by what days they keep holy!

How the Wolves Trick the Sheep:

Some of these ministers tell people God’s Holy Days were only meant for the Jewish people to keep. But that is not true! God gave His Holy Days for all of the people around the world, including the Jews. The Jews were some of the last people still keeping God’s Law when Jesus came to live on the earth. That’s why some people think only the Jews need to keep the Law. But Jesus kept the Holy Days and He Taught His disciples to do the same thing! Jesus said if we are going to call Him LORD and Master, we had better start doing EVERYTHING Jesus told us to do. Let’s read Luke 6:46. Jesus also told us to go through the whole world and teach everyone to start doing everything Jesus did. That includes keeping God’s Holy Days again! Let’s read Matthew 28:18-20 and prove this for ourselves.

The next time someone asks you why you keep God’s Holy Days, instead of the world’s holidays, you can tell them, “Because Jesus did, and He told me to keep them too!”

Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep all of His Commandments (John 14:15)! Jesus loves YOU so much, that today He is going to show you how to start keeping the Commandments of God! Keeping the Commandments of God always begins with keeping His weekly Sabbath Day and His annual Holy Days!

God loves His Children, and God loves YOU! God is going to teach you something today that is very important to Him. God is going to show you, from your own Bible, how to keep His Special Days Holy. When we keep God’s Special Days, we become very special to God; even more so than we already are! That’s pretty cool! Let’s read Exodus 31:12-18 / Isaiah 58:13-14.

God says He sets apart those who keep His Days Holy, as a Holy People. That is what “sanctified” means. It means to be set apart as Holy to God! It was important to God that people remember, and not forget His Holy Days; that’s why God wrote them on tables of stone right along with the Ten Commandments! Most churches don’t teach that Truth any more, but you read it with your very own eyes, right out of the pages of the Bible! Thank You Jesus for teaching me the Right Way to worship God the Father! That’s what Jesus does as the High Priest of God; He will always show us the right way to worship God (John 13:15, 17, 14:6)!

Most people don’t realize that God’s Holy Days are a Sign between Him and us; they show everyone around you that you are being obedient to God! God calls His Sabbaths “Holy Days”, or “Feasts” or “Convocations” (which is a gathering or get together). There are seven annual Sabbaths in the Bible, and one weekly Sabbath Day which is always kept on the seventh day, or Saturday of every week!

It is such a simple thing, just to obey God on these days; that is why Satan hates these days and will do everything he can to make people believe they don’t have to keep them anymore. But that is not what the Bible says! Jesus Christ is going to make sure the whole world keeps these days when He returns to earth again – after He gets rid of Satan! Let’s look at Isaiah 66:23. Just as children need to obey their parents, people need to obey God and keep His Holy Days as Special Times in their lives!

Are you ready to start keeping God’s Sabbath? How about His Holy Days?

The Feast of Tabernacles is almost here! It is going to be a great time, 8 Days of Worshipping God, and Having Lots of FUN with His People!!!

On Wednesday, 18 September 2013 at sundown begins the first day of God’s Feast of Tabernacles. The feast last until Wednesday, 25 September at sundown. Then The Last Great Day begins until sundown, Thursday, 26 September. Let’s see what the Bible says about this Festival:

"Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto The Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a Sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before The Lord your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto The Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am The Lord your God" (Leviticus 23:39-43).

According to God's calendar, the fifteenth day of the seventh month (Tishri) is the beginning of a Holy festival to the people of "Israel" (not just for the Jews - who are the modern day descendants of the Tribe of Judah – which was only one of the original 12 Tribes of Israel). It's also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of Booths, or Succoth or Sukkot.

In contrast to Yom Kippur, or Day Of Atonement, that is observed 5 days before with much solemnity and fasting (we don’t eat or drink on that day); the Feast of Tabernacles is a time of feasting and celebration, usually ice cream too! Kids always look forward to it, once they learn what it is all about!

Why do we live in temporary shelters during The Feast of Tabernacles (Leviticus 23:42-44)?

God commanded the people of Israel to construct and live in temporary shelters (also called booths) during this week. The word tabernacle means a temporary or movable building or shelter (see Revelation 21:2-3 which shows us that God the Father will eventually move His Holy City to earth, so that He can live with His People forever).

The Feast of Tabernacles was also sometimes called the Feast of Ingathering, because it occurred at the same time of the major crop harvest (the spring crop harvest was always much smaller than the fall harvest. God’s First Resurrection will also be much smaller than the Second Resurrection too). God wants His People to think about why we will have an abundant fall harvest, and why we live in temporary shelters for a whole week, during this annual Holy Day Festival. The Feast of Tabernacles has great meaning for Christians today. It symbolizes the 1,000 year period of time (or Millennium) after the Return of Christ! Billions and billions of people are going to learn about Who God really is during the 1,000 years Jesus and the Saints are on earth. Without Satan, it is going to be a really great time to be alive!

Those who are keeping God’s Festivals today, and following the teachings of Jesus, understand why we still keep the Holy Days. Each Holy Day teaches us something about the Plan of God (or the Gospel of the Coming Kingdom of God to this earth)!

Now let’s find out the meanings of each of God’s Holy Days!

Spring time starts off God’s New Year (NOT the dead of winter like the Pagan Romans celebrated it). Spring time is when the flowers blossom and all the animals give birth to their young! The Spring Holy Days symbolize for us events that are related to the First Coming of Jesus Christ:

1) The First Holy Day is PASSOVER.

It reminds us of God freeing us from slavery in Egypt, and the Sacrifice of Jesus to pay for the sins of the whole world (Exodus 12:13 / John 1:29).

2) The Second Holy Day begins The DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD.

They remind us of our need to remove sin from our lives, as well as from the lives of all the converted and repentant people of God (Exodus 12:15, 1 Corinthians 5:7-8). The first day and the last day of this festival are Holy days; usually with a Sabbath Day falling in the middle of the week.

3) The Third Holy Day is PENTECOST.

Pentecost means to “count fifty”, because it happens fifty days after the Sabbath day that occurs during the Days of Unleavened Bread. This Holy Day always happens on a Sunday, or the first day of the week. It reminds us that the "first fruits" harvest or SAINTS will come up in the first resurrection, if they are keeping God’s Law, and receive God's Holy Spirit upon baptism and conversion. (Leviticus 23:16-17 / Acts 2:1-4).

The autumn or fall season Holy Days symbolize events that are related to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

4) The Fourth Holy Day is THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS.

This day pictures the Return of Jesus Christ, and the resurrection from the dead of those who died in Christ (Leviticus 23:23-25 / Matthew 24:30-31 / Revelation 5:10, 20:4 & 6).

5) The Fifth Holy Day is THE DAY OF ATONEMENT.

This day reminds us of the judgment and sentencing of Satan, as well as his removal as "the god of this world" (Leviticus 23:26-32 / Revelation 20:10). God’s people neither eat nor drink during this Holy Day.

6) The Sixth Holy Day is THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES.

This 7 day festival reminds us of the first 1,000 years after The Return of Christ (Leviticus 23:33-36 / Revelation 20:2-4). God will make the whole world like the Garden of Eden, and even re-create dinosaurs, also called the Dragons of God!

7) The Seventh Holy Day is THE LAST GREAT DAY.

This is the 8 th day of the Feast of Tabernacles which pictures the Second Resurrection, or the vast majority of humanity who were not resurrected as spirit beings at the Return of Jesus Christ. (Leviticus 23:39 / Revelation 20:5,11-15). They will be given 100 years to learn to walk in God’s Ways as flesh and blood humans again, and also have an opportunity to enter into eternal life as sprit beings afterwards! Then God the Father will come down from heaven, and live with us here on earth forever!

Our bodies on earth are just like the temporary dwellings we live in during The Feast of Tabernacles. They are meant to be replaced with spirit bodies, so that we can live forever - with God the Father, and His Son Jesus the Christ!

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life" (2 Corinthians 5:1-4).

The joy we all experience during The Feast of Tabernacles pictures a soon coming time when Satan will no longer be around to cause the terrible evil and religious confusion that he does today! Just like a week has six days for us to work in the world, and a Sabbath Day to rest and enjoy God in; so shall the world be given 6,000 years from Genesis 1:2, until the 1,000 year Millennium Sabbath of rest, and re-creation of all things!

God has a Great Plan in store for this world! It is a Plan only those who obediently keep God’s Holy Days will know about, or will be able to participate in!

Thank God He has chosen to share it with YOU today!

The faithful and obedient in Christ will always keep God’s True Holy Days and Sabbath; and will reject the pagan lies and substitutions of God’s truth (Revelation 22:11-15)! God’s Holy Days are meant for Christians to ENJOY! They truly are FEAST DAYS, meant to be enjoyed by God’s elect everywhere, throughout time, FOREVER!

”But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:26-30).

Christians must learn to read the Bible, interpret the scriptures according to Biblical principles (Isaiah 28:10, 13), and begin to apply the precepts they learn in their walk with God. Individual study is essential; coupled with fellowship times of group study, worship, and discussions of personal insights and observations.

We strive, each Saturday, to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere where Spirit led confirmation, clarification, questions, and correction can be made in the fellowship of other students of God’s Word.

One Nation Under God U.S.A. ( is working to unify the body of Christ in the worship of God the Father, in the way Jesus showed us to - in Spirit and in Truth! We strive to promote rediscovery of American History, and renew in current generations the Vision and the Covenant of our Founding Fathers.

We are honored that you joined us in the study of God's Word!
