BIBLE STUDY: The Gospel That Jesus Preached

Paul, an Apostle of Jesus, marveled that many Christians had so quickly turned away to follow other gospels, and to teachers who had perverted the original Gospel of Christ. His warning NOT to follow any other gospel but the one Jesus preached seems to have fallen on many deaf ears! Two thousand years later, how sure are you that we are still following the original Gospel that Jesus came to preach?

Join us today, as we open up the Word and prove from the Bible alone - exactly what the Gospel is (1 Thessalonians 5:21 / Acts 17:10-12 / Deuteronomy 29:27-29 / John 5:38-40 / Luke 1:1-4). Let us discover, and know with exact certainty, the things Christ came to instruct us in; and once we know them, let us cleave to Christ, and cling to the things He taught us, so fiercely, that we never let go of them again – ever (Deuteronomy 10:20, 11:22-25, 13:4 / Joshua 23:8-9 / 2 Kings 18:6-7 / Jeremiah 13:11)!!!

The Beginning of the Preaching of the Kingdom

With God, time tables are very important, His timing is always exact; always according to divine schedule – God is never late! So likewise the preaching of the Gospel had to begin at just the right time (Mark 1:1-3, 8, 14-15). Here we can see that Jesus followed the preparation work done by John the Baptist, and began to preach “The Gospel of The Kingdom of God”, because the time was “fulfilled” (this is when the Father wanted the message to begin to get out into the world). The One who would usher in God’s government on earth - Jesus - was “at hand”, present in the flesh; and Christ Himself was now instructing all of us to do two very important things immediately:

1) Repent (make a U-turn in life MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, SPIRITUALLY, and change how we are living!

2) To Believe The Gospel (Glad Tidings or Good News) that God’s Government or the King’s Dominion or “King-Dom” was coming to this very earth!

Now Satan does not want these two things to happen! So the Devil set out immediately to instill in people a belief that Christ will accept you any way you are – WITHOUT repenting, or without making any changes in your life after being called by God (“just believing in Jesus as your Savior is enough”); then the great dragon (Revelation 12:9) fabricated a false plan, and began to promote the belief that the saved go up into eternal bliss in heaven upon death, or are raptured into heaven before, during, or after the great tribulation. This Satan believed, would make the churches forget all about Jesus’ Promises that the saved would never enter into God’s spiritual Heaven; but would inherit the earth forever instead (John 3:13 / Matthew 5:5 / Psalm 37:9, 11, 22, 29, 34 / John 14:3 / Revelation 21:1-8)!!! Today the world has all but forgotten this True Gospel, and in its place, has embraced many false gospels – exactly as Paul warned us would happen (Galatians 1:1-24). So let’s go gospel shopping!

I have made it a point over the years, to attend the services of many of the churches and synagogues, in my home town and in other areas that I visit – on a Saturday night or on a Sunday; never as a replacement for – or instead of God’s Holy Sabbath Day, but to see what the broad, wide way (Matthew 7:13-14) churches are teaching to their flocks! Here are just a few of the many different gospels that churches in my home town, and elsewhere, preach. Maybe you too have heard them preached from pulpits in your area?

- The gospel about Jesus Christ: There is a popular Christian song with the lyrics, “It’s all about Jesus”. This gospel promotes the man Jesus Christ; what He was like, what He did in this life, and the notion that if we would all become more like Jesus was, full of love, and more tolerant to others, the world would be a much nicer place! It is full of feel good emotion, and many who follow this gospel write “Jesus” all over the place because they want others to know about Jesus too! Followers of this gospel promote Jesus as a rabbi, or teacher, and an example for others to follow. One minister of this gospel preached a sermon attended by President Obama and his wife. The minister said that Jesus did not condemn sinners, so neither should we. He then went on to justify homosexual lifestyles, and remarked that homosexual couples in his church had demonstrated commitments to Christ, with strong personal faiths equal to that of he and his wife.

Now Jesus is a BIG part of the True Gospel, but neither He, nor His personal conduct and behavioral examples, are the Gospel message that the Father wanted us to preach... and Jesus would never advocate sinful behavior of any kind and call it simply “human diversity” (Romans 1:26-32 / Leviticus 18:22, 20:13 / 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 / Jude 1:7-16 / Revelation 22:15-16). There has been a well-organized conspiracy to deceive people about the message of the True Gospel, and make it instead - into a gospel “about” Jesus; one that shrewd ministers can spin off into very many directions with no Scriptural accountability!

- The gospel of Grace or Salvation: This gospel promotes the idea that man didn’t realize how bad and sinful he was, so God gave us the Ten Commandments, which humans could never keep; they in turn showed us just how bad we really were. Then God, because He loves us; sent His Son (who was fully God and somehow at the same time fully man) to keep these Commandments for us, so we didn’t have to anymore. In fact, God then did away with them, nailing them to the cross with Christ! This gospel promotes the concept that Christians can be reconciled to God if they just accept Jesus as their Savior; God would then set up the kingdom of Heaven in our hearts! Everyone who has this hope in them would never really die, but would be instantly transported to heaven with Jesus when their physical bodies stopped working. It is true that we are saved by Grace, and Christ is our only Savior; but we must remember that Jesus was the messenger, NOT the message! The Gospel of the coming kingdom of God is a separate Truth from the Truth that Christ’s blood can remit your sins (1 Corinthians 15:1-2). Satan has inspired billions to focus entirely on the Messenger, while at the same time totally ignoring the Message of God’s coming One World Government, which we will soon verify for ourselves from the Holy Scriptures! Jesus and the fact that He is our Savior should be preached in conjunction with the Gospel of God, not instead of it!

- The gospel of Music: for many the only churching they ever get is listening to Gospel or Christian music. They never open the Bible to read what it actually says inside. The songs they listen to, or sing along with are gentle and smooth. They are made to sell albums and generate revenue rather than convict the listener of sin and the need to follow and obey Christ. One church I visited in Sweden consisted mostly of secular people singing feel good music, once or twice a week. It was only a social outlet for teens and young adults to get together and have fun; there was never a Bible on hand to open, let alone read!

There is the gospel of healing, the gospel of prosperity, the gospel of faith, the gospel of miracles, and even some new social gospels made to bring the dusty old fashion scriptures into sync with modern times and into harmony with modern issues like technology, drug abuse, abortion, and cultural relativity.

Does it make any difference which gospel we believe (Mark 1:14-15 / Galatians 1:6-12)? Yes it does! There is the True Gospel of the Coming Kingdom of God which leads to repentance and Salvation; then there are all the rest… False gospels that lead to destruction (Ezekiel 33:6 / Matthew 5:17-20, 7:15, 21-23, 24:4-5, 11, 24,  / Mark 13:21-23 / Acts 20:28-31 / Romans 16:17-20 / Ephesians 4:17-24 / 1 John 4:1-6 / 2 Peter 2:1-3, 18-22 / 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 / 2 Timothy 3:1-9, 4:1-5 / 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17). As Paul said, “If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed!!!

We are commanded to go into all the world and preach the True Gospel (Mark 16:15-16 /1 Thessalonians 2:1-4, 8-16). True worshippers of God will always preach The True Gospel, which is pleasing to God, and never concern themselves with what is pleasing to man (John 4:23-26). God made sure He sent us that Gospel message, but first He prepared the way for that Message by John the Baptist (Malachi 3:1-6 /Mark 1:1-22). As soon as Christ was Baptized by John, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus, Christ then went out to call his disciples, making them fishers of men, preparing them to call others in turn, who would all become Kings and Priests and help Christ usher in The Kingdom of God upon the earth, in the age to come (Revelation 5:10, 20:6 / Acts 10:36-48)! Christ set that example for us: Preach the Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to all nations and people, those who hear – called by God, will repent, be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. These children of God will be used by Him to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth, and to help grow His True Church until the time of Christ’s return. Those called by God, in this age, after they have heard the True Gospel, will come up in the first resurrection as spirit beings, and teach mortal flesh and blood humans how to live according to God’s Law as they implement the Kingdom of God on earth for a thousand years!

Look at Acts 10:36 with me, and notice that the True Gospel came from God Himself and was sent originally to the Children of Israel; now approximately ten years later at this writing, the True Gospel (and the Holy Spirit) were being offered to the Gentiles of all nations as well (verses 44-48). If we are to identify and be able to teach others, where and when the True Gospel was first preached, and by whom; these verses are essential! The Gospel was sent by God the Father to Jesus Christ. We can see then that Jesus is the mediator and messenger of the New Testament Gospel; just as Moses was the mediator of the Old Testament Covenant. Jesus began preaching the True Gospel only after John the Baptist had completed his ministry (of “the baptism of repentance”); and Jesus first preached the True Gospel from Galilee!

Remember that when Jesus first started preaching the True Gospel of the Coming Kingdom of God, He said we must first “REPENT”, and second, “BELIEVE THE GOSPEL” (Mark 1:14-15)!!! It is NOT enough to believe in and on the Name of Jesus as our Savior alone to be saved (Mark 16:16 / John 3:18, 36 /Acts 2:38, 16:31), obviously we must repent and alter our conduct and lifestyles, also keeping God’s Commandments (Revelation 22:14 / 1 John 2:1-6 / John 14:15)! If we are truly called by God to be True followers of Christ, we will BELIEVE the Gospel Christ came to preach, and teach it to others as well!!! Many believed on Jesus, but did not believe Jesus or His message of a coming Kingdom to this earth (John 7:31, 8:30-32, 45-47).

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not the Gospel about Jesus Christ!

If the one and only True Gospel is the Gospel of the Coming Kingdom of God, then the Gospel of Jesus Christ has to be the same thing! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is NOT man’s gospel ABOUT THE PERSON of Christ! It is CHRIST’S Gospel, the Gospel God the Father gave to Him to give to us (Revelation 1:1-8)! This is the Gospel you and I must preach – regardless of whether or not organized Christianity hates it, hates you, or both for speaking Truth (Matthew 4:4 / Luke 4:4 / John 5:24-25, 4:36, 6:47,50-51, 58, 12:44 / Deuteronomy 8:3). Jesus’ Gospel is His Message, which was given to Him by the Father (John 12:49-50, 14:24); and now it is our job to preach the True Gospel too – because Jesus said so (Luke 16:16)! The Kingdom of God is coming to this earth, and Jesus is going to be King (Matthew 6:10 / John 18:36-37 / 1 Corinthians 15:20-28).

The Kingdom of God is a very real Kingdom that will come to this earth at Jesus’ return in Power and Glory (Acts 1:9-11 / Matthew 16:27-28 / 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 / Acts 3:19-26). When Christ’s Kingdom is established again on the earth, it will have four things:

1) A Territory: beginning at the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, it will spread to fill the whole earth (Zechariah 14:4-5 / Daniel 2:34-36 / Habakkuk 2:14 / Psalm 22:27 / Isaiah 11:9).

2) A King: Jesus Christ will return to rule the whole earth (Psalm 95:3-5, 47:2, 7-8 / Revelation 19:14-16 / Matthew 24:3-51).

3) Subjects or Citizens: (Zechariah 14:16-19 / Isaiah 30:19, 65:23-25 / Revelation 20:4-6, 12-15 / Ezekiel 37:1-14 )

4) Laws and a Form of Government: (1 John 3:4 / Matthew 19:17 / Isaiah 66:23 / Revelation 2:26-27, 21:1-6, 22-27, 22:1-7, 10-21 / Micah 4:1-3).

The Gospel or Good News of the Coming Kingdom of God - is that all of humanity is going to have a chance for Salvation! Praise God!!! Humans are born the first time, from flesh, of flesh; the second time we are born – if God is calling us now, will be in the first Resurrection as Spirit beings in the Kingdom of God (1 John 3:1-3 / John 3:3-13). Those who never had an opportunity to know the Truth will come back to life in a physical flesh and blood resurrection after the thousand year rule of Christ and the Saints; after a hundred years they too will have an opportunity to enter into God’s Kingdom (Isaiah 65:20 / Luke 16:22, 25, 23:42-43 / Revelation 2:7 / John 7:37-39 / Isaiah 55:1-13 / Revelation 22:16-17 / Ezekiel 37:5-6, 12-14 / 1 Corinthians 15:26 / Revelation 20:14-15).

When the Messiah returns with all the power of God, we shall finally have world peace… with happiness, joy, prosperity, and a changed world that will be ON TRACK to inheriting eternal life (Daniel 2:44 / Zechariah 8:3, 14:16 / Isaiah 65:25, 66:23)! This is the True Gospel Jesus came to preach. This is the True Gospel those called by God have always preached into all the world (Luke 9:1-2, 10:1-2, 9 / Acts 8:12, 20:25, 21, 28:22-23, 30-31/  Mark 16:15-16)!!! So let’s go out into the whole world and preach it: “Repent and Believe The Gospel”!!!

Matthew 24:14 “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come!” This evil world is going to be replaced by God’s Kingdom on earth!!!

Jesus’ End-Times encouragement for His Saints (Matthew 5:1-12):

Jesus Christ has been building our Eternal Residence for the last two thousand years; it is going to take another 1,100 years to finish it – even after Christ returns to this earth to Reward us and to Rule with us (Revelation 22:12, 5:10, 20:6)! If God made this earth in 6 days; imagine what our Mansions are going to look like with Christ and 100 million angels working on it for over 3,100 years (Revelation 22:13-14)!!! When our eternal home is finished and complete, exactly the way our Heavenly Father wants it furnished; then the Father, HIMSELF, will descend from The Third Heaven, and dwell with us in His House – in Our House, for all Eternity upon this very earth (Revelation 21:1-7)!!!

Let us REJOICE and be EXCEEDINGLY GLAD, because GREAT is OUR Reward in Heaven! Now YOU know the REAL Gospel that Jesus Christ preached! He is Coming back to raise us from the dead and make US, His Saints world rulers in the New Kingdom of God instituted on earth among men – Thy Kingdom COME!!! Then 1,100 years after Jesus’ Return, the Father Returns to live with His Kids – for ALL OF ETERNITY!!! Now that is REALLY GREAT NEWS!!! Let’s make sure you and I are sharing it with the whole rest of the world (Matthew 28:18-20)!!! Amen!!!

The sad state of affairs today is that the vast majority of Americans are Bible illiterates (Hosea 4:6). They simply have never read the book which they profess to regard as the “Word of God”. If we are to change this, we must begin using the Bible as our primary source of education, to learn about God and His teachings (Matthew 6:33).

If you have never faithfully kept God’s seventh day Sabbath holy or God’s Holy Days, the way Jesus Christ did – in the flesh, and in the fellowship of other followers of the Son of Man (Hebrews 10:25); we invite you to obediently enter into God’s rest today, and to keep the Feasts of the LORD (Hebrews 4:1-11 / Leviticus 23:1-44)! Contact us to find out where we fellowship and worship God, in your area, on His Sabbath Days (Exodus 31:12-18). We would love to hear from you and help get you started!

“But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:26-30).

Christians must learn to read the Bible, interpret the scriptures according to Biblical principles (Isaiah 28:9-10 / Matthew 13:52), and begin to apply the precepts they learn in their walk with God. Individual study is essential; coupled with fellowship times of group study, worship, and discussions of personal insights and observations.

We strive, each Saturday, to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere where Spirit led confirmation, clarification, questions, and correction can be made in the fellowship of other students of God’s Word.

One Nation Under God U.S.A. (www.onug.us) is working to unify the body of Christ in the worship of God the Father, in the way Jesus showed us to - in Spirit and in Truth! We strive to promote rediscovery of American History, and renew in current generations the Vision and the Covenant of our Founding Fathers.
