BIBLE STUDY: Sodom and Gomorrah (Past, Present, & Future): A Loving God's View On Homosexuality

Attempting to understand and follow, what our Loving God and Heavenly Father, Who is a Spirit; intended for His physical, flesh and blood created children - in terms of human sexuality and relationships, is a challenging task; if we look solely to historical human behavior over the last six millennia. Recent shifts in societal perceived norms, modern politics, and the much publicized sex scandals within churches, governments, school, and families, have now so blurred the lines of acceptable and unacceptable behaviors; that unless we return to the Original Code of Human Conduct, we too will become lost in the delusional abyss known as “anything goes” (Genesis 3:1-14)!!!

Bible Study Instructions: One Nation Under God Ministries ( publishes and distributes weekly Bible Studies, worldwide – free of charge, to anyone who requests them, in both printed and electronic formats. Our Studies are intended to be a simple and fun way to learn the Scriptures, and are very easy to follow! We adhere to Jesus Christ’s Biblical instructions to teach and feed the flock of God portions of meat in due season, on weekly Sabbaths, and on the seven annual Holy Days throughout each calendar year (Luke 12:42 / Isaiah 28:9-10 / Matthew 13:52). Using both the Old and New Testaments, our Bible Studies are designed to present a premise, make a statement, or ask a question – followed by one or more Scriptural references. Just look up and read from your Bible the Scriptures listed. Comments following questions elaborate on the Scriptures you just read. Pray always before beginning any study of God’s Word, asking God to open both your eyes and your mind to His Truth; then Prove everything you read, is in fact the Truth, by comparing it to The Word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21 / 2 Timothy 3:15-17). Then use the Biblical System of Checks and Balances, and SEE if both Jesus Christ, and the First Century Church of God Apostles – also Did, Said, and Taught these SAME THINGS (Galatians 1:1-12, 5:25 / 1 Peter 2:21, 25 / 1 John 2:3-6)! That’s all there is to it! Our Bible Studies are based on the King James Version, unless otherwise stated. We will be praying for your eyes to “see” (Matthew 13:11-17); and we are always available to answer any of your questions! Be Blessed, in Jesus’ Name! - One Nation Under God Ministries (

The story in Genesis 3 that we just read, is a True account of human history, recorded by God, for you and I to read today; and for you and I to read to our children, and to our grandchildren - tomorrow!!! Adam and Eve, maybe 100 years after creation, long after Eve had conceived and given birth to many children (painlessly); decided to determine for themselves what was true, instead of listening to God, and allowing Him to determine what is Right and what is Wrong in human conduct! Let’s spend a few minutes discovering from Scripture, what happened to the first human family, when they decided to figure things out for themselves in opposition to the Commandments of God (Proverbs 14:11-12, 16:25)!

The Consequences of deciding for ourselves what is in our own best self-interest:

  1. We will distance ourselves from God (Genesis 3:8). What Adam and Eve once enjoyed tremendously, daily Fellowship Time with our God; was now something to run away from, instead of being a time of refreshing that they would run to! My mind conjures up the image of a dog, tongue hanging out, running and bouncing with excitement at the sound of his master’s voice; anticipating the end of the day, when his owner returns home from work! Or as children running to greet their father, as he returns home from his job; both armed with hugs and kisses to celebrate the reunion! This is how God originally made our interaction with Him to be; NOT for us to run and hide for fear of punishment for breaking the household rules!
  2. We will cease to communicate effectively with God (Genesis 3:9-10). God asked Adam three questions, which he either skirted answering, or to which he gave round about answers; which in effect, diminished the integrity of their Father / Son relationship!

To the question: “Where art thou?” Adam should have said, “Here I Am!” (Not, “I heard Thy Voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself!”).

To the question: “Who told thee that thou wast naked?” Adam should have said, “I realized for myself I was naked!” (Not, ignoring the question, and refusing to answer as he did).

To the question: “Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I Commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” Adam should have taken responsibility for his actions and said, “Yes I did, Father; and I am sorry for disobeying You! Please forgive me!” (Not, “The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat”).

  1. We will cease to take responsibility for our own actions before God, and blame our disobedience on ignorance, peer pressure, or rationalize our sins because of the behavior of others (Genesis 3:13). Like Adam, Eve skirts the issue of “what is this that thou hast done?” She fails to take responsibility for her own sins; and invents the now world famous line: “The Devil made me do it!”

Notice that God does not miss the point, that each individual is responsible for their own conduct before Him (Ezekiel 18:14-32)!

  • The devil is punished, in measure, for his part in this rebellion of God’s Authority in the Garden (Genesis 3:14-15).
  • Eve who could have given birth to many hundreds of babies in the preceding one hundred years, effortlessly and pain-free, now passes on a curse in child bearing, onto all women who give birth; until Christ returns in the Second Coming to restore all things as they were before the curse (Genesis 3:16, 20, 5:3-5 / Acts 3:19-21).
  • Adam who was made in God’s image first, had authority over his wife to lead her in God’s Way (1 Timothy 2:12-15); Adam knew this, but disobeyed God in this God-Given role (Genesis 3:17-19). Adam now must labor to produce food; and the ground which initially yielded bountiful increase without effort, it now obstructs and hinders Adam!
  1. We are sentenced to death, decay, and to return to the dust, from whence we came; for deciding on what is in our own best self-interest, over what God chooses for us (Genesis 3:19, 22-24)! God prevented mankind, in a sinful and rebellious state, from eating of the Tree of Life and living forever! In fact, throughout the entire Bible, the only Way humans can become immortal, living eternally, is by first submitting to, and living irrevocably in submission to the Authority of Almighty God, and submitting to ALL of His Commandments for the remainder of their human physical lives. If we do, then God will again raise us up from the dust, and convert us into spirit beings (at the First Resurrection – Revelation 5:9-10, 20:4,6; or 100 years after the Second Resurrection – Revelation 20:5 / Ezekiel 37:1-14 / Isaiah 65:20), so that will can live eternally with Him (Daniel 12:2-3 / Revelation 22:14-15)!!!

God Does Not Change (Malachi 3:6 / Hebrews 13:8)! There are still consequences today, just as there were for Adam and Eve; for deciding for ourselves how we are to live, and for deciding for ourselves what is right and what is wrong! God destroyed the pre-flood world for this same reason; and God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah specifically for choosing a human sexuality and human conduct apart from what God ordained. Jesus warned us that the massive destruction in Noah’s day, and the terrible destruction in Abraham and Lot’s day; would foreshadow an even more massive, and an even more terrible destruction of MOST of the human population, just prior to the Second Return of Jesus Christ! But how could a Loving Heavenly Father destroy so many? Let’s look and see the Biblically recorded How’s and Why’s; and then LEARN from others past mistakes, so we don’t have to follow in their cursing and punishment – but can rather REJOICE in God’s Blessings!!!

Let’s get into our Bible Study today by asking a question I have been asked more than once: “Who are you to say that homosexuality is wrong?”

Well, let’s begin to answer this by first remembering a women Jesus told us not to forget! Let’s Remember Lot’s Wife (Luke 17:22-37)!!!

The words of Jesus, spoken in Luke 17:32, are an admonition to His disciples about how they should react to the conditions that would be prevalent before His Second Coming. Christ’s First Century Disciples are now long since dead; but this divine warning still applies to us today - if we have eyes to see the end of this age approaching!!! If we are to remember Lot's wife, we need to review what really happened in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah before they were destroyed by God.

There were actually five cities (Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Bela (or Zoar) in the Plain of Jordan; four of which were destroyed, and today make up a desolate and barren wasteland, at the southern end of the Dead Sea (Genesis 14:1-2, 8). Sodom and Gomorrah were the two most prominent and more powerful of the five cities; which back in Abraham and Lot’s time, were “like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar" (Genesis 13:10). In this fertile plain, Lot chose to settle after he had separated from his uncle Abraham, even though he knew "the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD" (Genesis 13:13). There is a lesson here for us! God does not want us to hob knob with the wicked of this world just for financial reasons. He may put us into a den of thieves to bear witness to the Light of Christ, but we should not be seeking to establish our homesteads among the ungodly of this world, as their wickedness will have an effect on us – and we will pay a price!!!

Lot was almost gang raped and killed by nearly the entire city; he lost his wife, two married daughters and their families - all because he was more impressed with the financial viability of his town, than with the moral caliber of his neighbors! There are several great lessons for us to learn here!!!

There are doors, windows and rooms that one can still enter today.

Interlinking streets that can still be walked today. The street level today is a lot

lower after thousands of years of flash flooding has eroded the street level away.

Walking about the ancient city, one can recognize structures that one would

typically find in a Canaanite city. Ziggurats and two sphinx, which both faced east,

and were raised up on a "temple mount" which served as a worship area.

Traditional city walls complete with buttresses. Most city walls were built as

double-walls which is exactly what we find in here Gomorrah.

Several Oxydized bronze spearheads were found, and a skeleton that had

completely turned to ash were as found in Sodom. The marrow was visible

at the ends of each of the bones. With a molecular frequency radar generator,

gold salts were found, the by-product of vaporized gold! Samples of the material

were taken and tested which proved to be pure ash (See 2 Peter 2:6).

The surrounding material is all normal brown rock. The obvious question would be

if the cities were destroyed 3900 years ago, how is it that the ash has not been

completely eroded away? Research showed that objects burned with sulphur leave

a remaining ash heavier than the original material. The Bible says, "the LORD rained

upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven"

(Genesis 19:24). Brimstone is Sulphur; and exactly as the Bible described, millions

of s                       of brimstone balls are found embedded all through these pure ashen remains.

Sulphur is usually found in yellow crystalline form, but this sulphur is unique as it

is round, white and has the consistency of compact powder. Sulphur is ordinarily

30-40% sulphur, whereas these sulphur balls are 95-98% pure sulphur.

The impurities in the sulphur are metals that would add to the heat given off.

They burn at 5000-6000 degrees Fahrenheit. Sulphur is usually only found

by volcanoes, sulfide ore mineral veins, or by sedimentary rocks associated

with anhydrite, gypsum, limestone and saltdomes.

We know that these sulphur balls must have been burning at some time in the

past, because of the presence of burn rings around them.

Another phenomenon which does not occur naturally. This kind of 98%

sulphur is unique to this planet - because it came from heaven!!!

These cities are indeed unique. Other cities that have been destroyed by fire or

by volcanoes, like Pompeii; and have a layer of ash on top, but under that is

the original material. Here however, we see entire cities completely turned to

ash, exactly as the Bible describes (2 Peter 2:6).  "And turning the cities of

Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making

them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly!!!"

It has been suggested that lines within the ash are just a result of natural

sedimentation, but this is impossible as the lines travel vertically in many

places. This phenomenon is in fact the result of thermal ionization, which

is a chemical reaction to an expanding and contracting flame as it burns material.

The ash was subsequently tested and proved to be 100% ash

and composed of calcium sulphate and calcium carbonate, which is

exactly what one finds when you burn limestone in the presence

                             of Sulphur (Luke 17:28-30)!!!

God Decides To Destroy Sodom and Gomorrah!

Several years after Lot and Abraham parted company, God visited Abraham and told him that God would destroy the cities of the plain because their sin had grown "very grievous" (Genesis 18:20)! Just as He had done at the time of the Flood, and had warned Noah; God knew that His only just and merciful recourse was to destroy them in their sins!!! Abraham pleaded for the lives of Lot and his family, and begins to bargain with God, Who graciously agreed to spare Sodom if only 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, or even 10 righteous people could be found there (Genesis 18:24-26, 32-33)!

Lot, being a righteous man (2 Peter 2:6-8), recognized the angels whom God had sent, and offered them his hospitality, knowing how dangerous it was for strangers to be in public once the sun went down. His fears were well founded, for the perverted men of the city surrounded Lot’s house, and brazenly demanded that Lot surrender the two angels to them so they could gang rape them (Genesis 19:4-5)!!! Their depravity was so deep that both old and young, rich and poor, participated in this grotesque riot! Notice now also, that after having lived in this city for several years; how the very great sin of this society begins to dull Lot’s sense of right and wrong (Genesis 19:6-8)! Lot tried to appease the mob by offering to them, his very own virgin daughters! What!?! I will ALWAYS protect my family and guests from evil; NEVER giving in to somehow appease it!!! This is the dullness of senses that comes with repeated and constant exposure to sin (1 Corinthians 6:18)!

We see in Scripture that appeasement does not work (Genesis 19:9-10)! The mob threatens to do worse to Lot than that which they proposed to do to the angels! One must wonder what is worse than being gang raped multiple times by a huge angry mob (being raped multiple times, then killed?). The angels pull Lot back inside, and inflict mass blindness upon the crowd! So dedicated to their evil purposes are they, that the crowd – totally blind – wearies themselves still trying to find the door (Genesis 19:11)! Do you get the mentality of the crowd, which God is allowing us to see? Stricken with blindness, yet they are still going to try to gang rape EVERYONE inside Lot’s home!!! The crowd is not going to take “no” for an answer!!!

Now my Marine Corps training would have kicked in at this point, if I was Lot; I would be wielding an axe or a sword, and depriving the crowd of their limbs, in order to save my household from certain death! Thankfully, however, God shows us that because of Abraham’s prayers and Lot’s righteousness; God sends angels who offer to rescue Lot, so that he does not have to fight it out for himself (Genesis 19:12-17)!

Did you notice that Lot had at least two other married daughters, also living in Sodom? They each could quite possibly, have had several children of their own too! But by now they are so comfortable in the wealth of the city, and the perverseness of her people, that a warning from God - given by Lot, to their husbands; is met with ridicule and laughter, as though Lot was mocking them for living as they did! Take Heed Parents!!!: what you allow your children to experience growing up, and what you permit; is what you endorse, and what they will embrace! Living in that fertile valley, is about to cost Lot most of his family (Genesis 19:18-22)!!!

Lot had seen the perversions of Sodom first-hand, and had almost personally experienced them too! Yet Lot failed to grasp the urgency of the situation; the angels had to literally pull him, his wife, and his two virgin daughters - out of the city by hand (Genesis 19:16)! Still hesitant, Lot convinced the angels to allow them to flee to Zoar, rather than the nearby mountains; because he was afraid that, "some evil", would befall him (Genesis 19:19-22).

Then, one of the angels charged him with two commands:

1) “Do not look behind you”, and

2) “Do not stay anywhere in the plain!” (Genesis 19:17).

When Lot entered Zoar, "the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens"; and all the cities of the plain (except for Zoar) were destroyed, and EVERYTHING that grew upon the ground (Genesis 19:23-25)!!! Then just before they took shelter inside a building in Zoar, Lot's wife disobeyed the angel's command, and she looked back… and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26 / Luke 17:28-32)!!!

Abraham witnesses the Lord’s destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:27-30)!!!

We need to ask ourselves here, “Why Did Lot’s Wife Look Back?” Why did Jesus tell us to remember Lot’s wife?

The Bible does not specifically tell us why; but we do have some clues!!!

  1. Just as Lot had been so enamored with the wealth and fertility of Sodom (Genesis 13:5-12), his self-prestige to sit with the city fathers “at the gate” (Genesis 19:1); his ability to recognize righteous and wicked behavior in stark contrast to each other, was beginning to fade… as evidenced by his offer to appease a crazy, perverted mob, by giving them his two youngest, virgin daughters to gang rape instead of the angels! Had Lot been more in tune to Scripture, he should have realized more quickly, that they were angels of God, and therefor impossible to sodomize (angels do not have human plumbing)! Had Lot not been living in Sodom for several years previously, he would not have even considered a sexual violation of his daughters to be an option!!!
  2. Lot’s other married daughters and their husbands are totally sold out for Sodom and its prevalent lifestyles. By the time they are offered a way of escape, they no longer see anything wrong with their society, and mock Lot for upholding God’s Holy and Righteous Laws! They refuse to leave the city and are destroyed with it!
  3. Lot’s wife is a very wealthy woman! Her husband is one of the city fathers in one of the biggest and most powerful cities in the area! She has social clout and is High Society! All of her wealth is in that city, her possessions, her friends, her family and grandchildren. Although she follows her husband out of the city with their daughters; she probably regrets leaving the parties, the fine clothes, her servants, the fine dining, her entertainment and her life of leisure! She might have reconsidered her decision to leave Sodom; holding onto - mentally and emotionally, the things of this world - instead of choosing the things God Commands (Luke 14:26-27 / 1 John 2:15-17 / Matthew 10:37-39)!

Although it goes against our human nature, God requires us to have more of an allegiance to Him, than to the members of our own families!!! For the disciples of Jesus Christ, leaving family members behind, in order to follow God's will, may be one of the most difficult hardships that they will have to face, as they come out of this evil and perverse world (Revelation 18:4-24)!!! Jesus tells us this world and its history are going to repeat the destruction of the pre-flood world, where only Noah and his family were saved! Jesus warns us that this world will again see the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but on an even bigger scale; and just as only Lot and his daughters were saved – so shall ONLY the Righteous Saints (the Wise Virgins [Matthew 25:1-13], who are sealed at the 1335 days [Daniel 12:12], and who are 52/7 Sanctified [Exodus 31:13, 16-17 / Leviticus 23:1-44]), and are taken to a Place of Safety [Psalm 91:1-16 / Isaiah 26:19-21], shall be saved from the coming destruction (Luke 21:34-36)! This is what Jesus means when He tells us: “Remember Lot’s Wife! (Luke 17:31-32)!!!”

When God commands His elect to flee to a place of safety, many of us will be required to entrust unconverted family members to God's mercy. Without a doubt, this will be one of the greatest tests of our spiritual lives!!! We will know that before us, lies life and hope; and that behind us, remains certain death and destruction!!! Noah, Lot, and even Jesus Christ, Himself; Cry Out: “Come Out of Her”, “Run!”, “Don’t Look Back!!!”

Living in Sodom and Gomorrah Today!!!

America in the year 2017, is a land where sin is enjoyed and displayed daily. Many of its major cities could easily be compared to Sodom or Gomorrah because of their blatant depravity and wantonness!!! Even some of their smaller cities and towns have openly homosexual mayors and commissioners, who flaunt their perversions in public. "Gay rights" is a major social concern to those who practice such degeneracy, and great efforts are made by a minority to make sure a great part of society knows what LGBTQ stands for: “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender”, and the more recently added “Q” for “questioning” (their sexuality). In use since the 1990s, the term has more recently been used to replace the longer standing term of “gay” (meaning homosexual) in order to add more descriptive elements to varied preferences of divergent sexuality by the gay community (Genesis 5:1-2).

Sodom’s Sins Were Not Only Sexual:

Although most associate Sodom with sexual corruption, the Bible does tell us the people of that city displayed other evil traits as well (Ezekiel 16:49-59)!

Our society is certainly similar to the one into which Lot led his family. In his selfishness and greed, Lot purposely chose to expose his children and servants to the depravity of Sodom, where Satan lay in wait like a hungry lion (1 Peter 5:8). You and I today, living in Satan's world, a world increasingly returning to the depravity of Sodom; are commanded to, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues" (Revelation 18:4)!!! God wants us to take effort, and to make strides, to overcome the ungodly practices that we have absorbed from living in this present evil world" (Galatians 1:1-12)! We should be adopting and living the lifestyles personally demonstrated to us by Jesus Christ and the First Century Church of God Apostles!!!

A Future Test, and Time of Trial; Will YOU Escape?

Sometime in the not-too-distant future, we will be tested as Lot and his family were; we will be tested as Noah and his family were! When God calls for us to flee, we may have family members living hundreds of miles away. Children may be at college in another state. A spouse may be away on a business trip, or a few miles away at work. Will we have the faith to put those family members' lives in God's Hands and leave without hesitation? Have we made a mental, and spiritual; a moral, physical, and financial departure from this world, its systems, its beliefs, its religions, its sexuality, and its code of conduct? Are we convinced that God will provide The Way of escape for us, as well as for our family? Do you believe God will prepare you, as you stay righteous to Him; that God will send His angels, as He did with Lot – to show us the way out – to show us the way to safety (Amos 3:6-8)?  If we really trust God, stay obedient to Him, and Watch - the Way Jesus told us to; even though we cannot see the future clearly, in the present; we have nothing to fear, because God will open the door and lead us to where we must go (John 10:1-15)!

Today, on Jebel Usdum (Hill of Sodom) on the Dead Sea's western shore, stands a pillar of salt known as "Lot's Wife." This monument is a perpetual reminder of a woman who allowed her human nature to turn her from the express command of God. In a critical moment she took her eyes off the goal. Christ warns that we cannot allow the same to happen to us. We have an even greater goal than our physical safety, and because our eternal life is at stake, we must always keep it as our first priority (Philippians 3:1-21)!!!

God’s plan for sexuality and marriage (Genesis 1:27, 2:18-25):

The image of God, was made in the flesh as both male and female; and as such, it is reflected in a godly union between male and female where the creative power of God - His life-giving, His self-giving, and His moral nature, are perfectly expressed!!! This is only possible in a heterosexual union; so says God!!!

When God created a partner for Adam He created Eve; NOT another Adam. This means that perfect partnership requires some level of difference, and at the same time, a unique level of similarity - which is so great that Adam could cry out loudly, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!!!” Sexual intimacy between a man and a woman is the normal method of male / female bonding (emotionally and physically), because it corresponds to the design of our bodies, and because it is the God Designed means by which offspring are created!!!

If God had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our bodies to allow human reproduction through either means; and He would have made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural. Homosexual anal intercourse carries a very high risk of disease, which is recognized in Scripture - where gay men are said to receive in their bodies “that recompence of their error which was meet”; or a suitable penalty for their sin (Romans 1:27)!!!

The Medical Community Weighs In:

Many studies have indicated that homosexual behavior makes both men and women more vulnerable to disease, and decreases the human lifespan!

  • R.S. Hogg, S.A. Strathdee, KJ Craib, M.V. O’Shaughnessy, J.S. Montaner and M.T. Schechter, “Modelling the impact of HIV disease on mortality in gay and bisexual men,” International Journal of Epidemiology, Vol. 26 (Oxford University, 1997), pp. 657-661. (Quote: “If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, we estimate that nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reach their 65th birthday”).
  • Executive Summary, “Health Implications Associated with Homosexuality,” Medical Institute of Sexual Health (1999) (Quote: “Homosexual men are at significantly increased risk for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, anal cancer, gonorrhea and gastrointestinal infections.” “Women who have sex with women are at significantly increased risk of bacterial vaginosis, breast cancer and ovarian cancer than are heterosexual women”).
  • L.A. Valleroy, D.A. MacKellar, J.M. Daron, et al, “HIV prevalence and associated risks in young men who have sex with men,” JAMA, 284 (2000), pp. 198-204. (Discusses the prevalence of HIV infection and high-risk behaviors in study group of 3,492 young men who have sex with men.)
  • D. Binson, W.J. Woods, L. Pollack, J. Paul, R. Stall, J.A. Catania, “Differential HIV risk in bathhouses and public cruising areas,” American Journal of Public Health, 91 (2001), pp. 1482-1486. (Demonstrates that high risk behaviors are still quite common among homosexual men).

What Did Jesus Teach (Matthew 19:4 / Mark 10:6)?

When Jesus was asked questions about marriage he went straight back to the defining passages in Genesis that say that marriage is between a male and a female, and is meant to be life-long!!! He saw the Creation accounts in Genesis, as Authoritative for His day; and what was authoritative for Jesus, must be Authoritative for Christians today as well!!! While Jesus did not specifically teach on homosexuality; His establishment of the Genesis passages as the fundamental passages on marriage (even more fundamental than the Law), leaves no doubt as to the outcome, and His Intent for human sexual unions!!!

What else does the Bible say (Romans 1:26-27 / 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 / 1 Timothy 1:9-10)?

These three references indicate that homosexual passions and acts are unnatural, shameful, contrary to sound doctrine, and that God will deny entrance into the Kingdom of God (or will not allow us to become spirit beings - who then become immortal), if we continue to engage in these behaviors after receiving God’s Holy Spirit in our mortal flesh!!! This being so; same sex unions cannot be the basis for a Christian marriage which is sanctioned by God’s Church!!! The Church exists as a Christ taught means to show people The Way to Salvation (Luke 6:46); NOT as a vehicle to bless and / or sterilize the means of their damnation!!!

No marriage can be sanctioned by the True Church of God, or by a True Minister of Jesus Christ; if the very basis of that marriage involves acts that put the couple outside of eternal salvation – according to the very specific Word of God in Scripture (2 Timothy 3:13-17)!!! No matter what our society may legislate, or religious leaders may sanction, or your family will permit, or your heart and mind may lead you to believe; The Law of God is extremely clear: that a marriage is not a godly marriage, if it involves a same sex union!!!

Are emotions a sufficient basis for marriage?

Hollywood has propagated the myth that when it comes to marriage “all you need is love!” This is simply not true!!! Marriage is not based on emotion, any more than any other partnership in life is! It is true that Marriage, like many human activities, involves emotion; but it is not constituted solely by the presence of any particular set of emotions. Many homosexuals do feel deeply for their partners; however, the Bible asserts that no matter how deep the feelings, if a relationship goes against what The Creator intended and Commands - what they have is not a marriage in God’s sight; but instead a beautiful deception (Jeremiah 17:9-10 / Matthew 13:15 / Mark 7:20-23)!!!

Just because an emotion is deep, or is powerful, that does not justify acting upon it!!! Like drugs, adultery, the abuse of alcohol, or the love of money, or the power rush of human ego; there are emotions which are powerful, addictive, and ultimately - terribly destructive to the person who acts upon them!!! Same sex marriages, as is the case with the other sinful vices above; must satisfy criteria other than emotion alone, and be based on precept and Scripture to be God ordained (Isaiah 28:9-10 / 1 Thessalonians 5:21)!!! A marriage is, and must be, much more than just a sexual pleasure center!!! A God-ordained marriage is a social unit of two heterosexuals, which is interwoven with dozens of other lives!

Same sex marriages do not last! Less than 5% of gays have ever had a relationship that lasted 3 years or more. Sex is not enough. Passion cannot sustain an inherently unstable social unit!

Society, The Church, and Same Sex Marriages:

Marriage is a fundamental social institution that does not exist just for the emotional satisfaction of two individuals, but for the greater good of the community which will either stand under the Blessing, or the Curse of God (Deuteronomy 30:19-20)!!! Societies that put emotional fulfillment before right actions and principles, will soon give way to a multitude of addictions and deep corruptions; then soon – collapse! God will judge any society that institutes same sex marriages (1 Corinthians 2:1-16)!

I also believe that God will judge any society that permits adoption of children, or the use of sperm banks by same sex couples. His Word stands over society, and when It is deliberately flaunted in the name of progress and enlightenment, then it is not light but deep darkness that results! We cannot bend the principles of God’s Word to suit vocal minority groups. While some nations may enact laws permitting these evils, the True Church of God must stand resolutely firm, and NEVER allow the sanctioning of same sex marriages by Christian clergy!!! No church that takes the Bible seriously can sanction a union between homosexuals or lesbians (Proverbs 22:6)!

A Christian Perspective on Homosexuality, derived solely from Scripture is the only thing that will allow God’s Elect to keep a God-Centered Focus on Marriage; in a world that will spiral increasingly out of control before Jesus Christ Returns to set up His Throne and The Kingdom of God upon this earth FOREVER (Romans 1:24-32)!!!

Homosexuality, The Existence of God, and Right or Wrong:

So if God does not exist, right and wrong do not exist either! Anything goes, including homosexuality. So one of the best ways to defend the legitimacy of the homosexual lifestyle is to become an atheist! But the problem is that many defenders of homosexuality don’t want to become atheists. In particular, they do want to affirm that right and wrong exist! So you hear them making moral judgements all the time, for example: “It is wrong to discriminate against homosexuals.” And these moral judgements aren’t meant to be just relative to a culture or society. They would condemn a society like Nazi Germany which threw homosexuals into concentration camps, along with Jews and other undesirables. When Colorado passed an amendment prohibiting special rights for homosexuals, Barbara Streisand called for a boycott of the state, saying, “The moral climate in Colorado has become unacceptable!”

But we’ve seen that these kinds of value judgements cannot be meaningfully made unless God exists. If God does not exist, anything goes, including discrimination and persecution of homosexuals. But it doesn’t stop there: murder, rape, torture, child abuse; none of these things would be wrong, because without God - right and wrong do not exist! Everything is, or would be permitted!

So if we want to be able to make moral judgements about what’s right or wrong, we’ve got to affirm that God exists. But then the same question we started with today: “Who are you to say that homosexuality is wrong?”—can be put back to homosexual activists: “Who are you to say that homosexuality is right?” If God exists, then we cannot ignore what He has to say about the subject. The correct answer to the “Who are you . . ?” question is to say, “Me? I’m nobody! God determines what’s right and wrong, and I’m just interested in learning and obeying what He says!!!”

So let me recap what we’ve seen so far. The question of the legitimacy of the homosexual lifestyle is a question of what God has to say about it. If there is no God, then there is no right and wrong, and it doesn’t make any difference what lifestyle you choose—the persecutor of homosexuals is morally equivalent to the advocate of homosexuality. But if God does exist, we can no longer go just on the basis of our own opinions. We have to find out what God thinks on the issue!

So how do you find out what God thinks? The Christian says, you look in the Bible. And the Bible tells us that God forbids homosexual acts. Therefore, they are wrong!

So basically the reasoning goes like this:

(1) We are all obligated to do God’s Will.

(2) God’s Will is expressed in the Bible.

(3) The Bible forbids homosexual behavior.

(4) Therefore, homosexual behavior is against God’s will, or is wrong.

Now if someone is going to resist this reasoning, he’s got to deny either that (2) God’s Will is expressed in the Bible or else deny that (3) the Bible forbids homosexual behavior.

To sum up, we’ve seen, first, that right and wrong are real because they are based in God. So if we want to find out what is right or wrong, we should look at what God says about it. Second, we saw that the Bible consistently and clearly forbids homosexual acts, just as it does all sexual acts outside marriage. Third, we saw that the Bible’s prohibition of such behavior can’t be explained away as just the reflection of the time and culture in which it was written because it is grounded in God’s divine plan for man-woman marriage. Moreover, even apart from the Bible, there are generally accepted moral and health principles which imply that homosexual behavior is wrong.

So what practical application does all this have for us as individuals attempting to explain the Gay lifestyle in terms of a Biblical context?

First, if you are a homosexual or feel that inclination, keep yourself pure. If you are unmarried, you should practice abstinence from all sexual activity. I know this is difficult, but really what God is asking you to do is pretty much the same thing that he requires of all single people. That means not only keeping your body pure, but especially your mind. Just as heterosexual men should avoid pornography and fantasizing, you, too, need to keep your thought-life clean. Resist the temptation to rationalize sin by saying, “God made me this way.” God has made it very clear that He does not want you to indulge your desires, but to honor Him by keeping your mind and body pure. Finally, seek professional Christian counseling. With time and effort, you can come to enjoy normal, heterosexual relations with your spouse; or God will eventually provide you with a mate of the opposite sex, so that you can fulfill your role in His Master Plan. There is hope (Genesis 2:24-25 / Matthew 19:5-6 / Ephesians 5:31-33 / Revelation 21:1-8)!!!

Second, for those of us who are heterosexual, we need to remember that being homosexual, in thought, is as such – not a physical sin – yet! It is an incorrect thought process and emotions, which have not yet borne fruit in the realm of the physical. Most homosexuals did not choose such an orientation (Ephesians 2:1-10), and would likely change it if they knew they could - (and they can!!! They just need time and Christ! 2 Corinthians 10:5)!!! We need to accept and lovingly support brothers and sisters who are struggling with this problem (Hebrews 12:1-3). And in general, we need to extend God’s love to homosexual people!!! Vulgar words or jokes about homosexuals should never pass the lips of a Christian. If you find yourself feeling glad when some affliction befalls a homosexual person, or you find feelings of hatred welling up in your heart toward homosexual people, then you need to reflect long and hard on the words of Jesus recorded in Matthew 10:14-15, 11:23-24)!!! All will have a time to come to repentance in Christ; your attitude may lead them to it before the Second Resurrection (Revelation 20:5 / Ezekiel 37:1-14)!!!

This story of Sodom and Gomorrah certainly is shocking one with many lessons and implications for us both now and into the future! We should remember that all scripture is profitable for our instruction, and in doing so, it becomes clear why God recorded this story for us in His Bible! God illustrates for us, the total depravity of the inhabitants of Sodom. But God also shows us the flawed thinking of Lot as he offers his daughters to a deranged mob! Thirdly, it shows us the weakness of his wife, who longed for the home she left; even knowing the judgment that God had declared over that City and its practices! Many of us have the frailties of this story’s characters – whether the city citizens, Lot, or his wife! Finally, we see the effect of growing up in Sodom, in the sinful thinking of the two virgin daughters (Genesis 19:30-38). Growing up in the culture of homosexuals and evil men will always leave a mark on you, your spouse, and your children!!!

God hates sin; and He will always act, in His perfect timing, to correct the actions of deviant people who stray so far from the desires of a Holy and Righteous God!!! It is no wonder that God destroyed both the place and its people! Knowing that God does not, and cannot change (Malachi 3:6 / Hebrews 13:8); we should take caution that our own personal practices align with God's Perfect Will, and that they conform in obedience to His Commandments and Perfect Law of Liberty!

This is A Loving God’s Biblical View On Homosexuality! I hope you will follow it, and teach it to others, all to the Glory of God our Father!

The sad state of affairs today is that the vast majority of Americans are Bible illiterates (Hosea 4:6). They simply have never read the book which they profess to regard as the “Word of God”. If we are to change this, we must begin using the Bible as our primary source of education, to learn about God and His teachings (Matthew 6:33).

If you have never faithfully kept God’s seventh day Sabbath holy or God’s Holy Days, the way Jesus Christ did – in the flesh, and in the fellowship of other followers of the Son of Man (Hebrews 10:25); we invite you to obediently enter into God’s rest today, and to keep the Feasts of the LORD (Hebrews 4:1-11 / Leviticus 23:1-44)! Contact us to find out where we fellowship and worship God, in your area, on His Sabbath Days (Exodus 31:12-18). We would love to hear from you and help get you started!

”But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:26-30).

Christians must learn to read the Bible, interpret the scriptures according to Biblical principles (Isaiah 28:9-10, 13), and begin to apply the precepts they learn in their walk with God. Individual study is essential; coupled with fellowship times of group study, worship, and discussions of personal insights and observations.

We strive, each Saturday, to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere where Spirit led confirmation, clarification, questions, and correction can be made in the fellowship of other students of God’s Word.

One Nation Under God Ministries is working to unify the body of Christ in the worship of God the Father, in the way Jesus showed us to - in Spirit and in Truth! We strive to promote rediscovery of American History, and renew in current generations the Vision and the Covenant of our Founding Fathers.
