Learning From Abraham Lincoln On America's National Day Of Prayer

The sixteenth President of The United States once asked his country to engage in the most powerful of strategies ever employed by a nation at war. He asked all Americans to follow in a divinely inspired tradition, first set forth by the same Founding Fathers that established this nation on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Abraham Lincoln successfully rallied Americans to get down on their knees, and cry out to our Almighty Creator God. It is a time-tested, proven, winning strategy; one which you and I must re-employ on Thursday, the 2nd of May 2013, or so help us God!

"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:14-16).

On 30 March 1863, when the United Sates was on the brink of collapse due to the tragedy of a divided nation at war with itself; President Abraham Lincoln signed a proclamation appointing a national day of prayer and fasting.

We believe that we are again headed toward swift and sure national destruction if we do not return to our Creator, confess our personal and national sins; pray for God's forgiveness, and the restoration of His blessings on our divided and suffering nation.

It was impossible for us to improve upon President Lincoln's humble repentance before God on behalf of this nation. Therefore we have chosen to reprint his inspired proclamation below, to again ask our people to unite in prayer and commitment, toward the restoration of America as One Nation Under God.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

In the Words of Abraham Lincoln...

Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day           Washington, D.C.    March 30, 1863

By the President of the United States of America.

A Proclamation.

Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.

And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.

And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.

All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty seventh.

By the President: Abraham Lincoln
William H. Seward, Secretary of State.

Recognizing The Sovereignty of God in America Today:

One Nation Under God U.S.A. asks its Members, Friends, and all other God - Fearing Patriotic Americans to join us, all across America, on America's National Day of Prayer, and on the last Saturday of every month, to pray for this People and this Nation.

All of us are concerned for the future of America. Many of us are becoming increasingly more involved in local and national politics. The American people are beginning. to rise up again and take their government back from the mostly God-less group in Washington, D.C.

Be Warned: If we as a nation, continue to ignore God, His Laws, and His Word, we will not succeed!

- Only God can rid us of the evil in our society today.

- Only God can forgive our national sins and restore this nation.

- Only God can protect us from our enemies and provide for our safety.

- Only God can again unify us in truth and restore this country to a right pathway to a better future. We must do our part first!

God - Fearing Americans must stand up and repent of our national sins, in the stead of our fellow Americans that don't yet know how to, or may not care to! Sin is what is separating our nation from God and his blessings.

Confessing our sins (even the sins of others in our nation) and repenting of our personal and national sins, will remove that separation (Isaiah 59:1-21)!

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16).

This Thursday, 02 May 2013, and on the last Saturday of every month, gather with fellow Members, Friends and Family. Join us in a public place, as we pray to God our Creator, for our beloved nation.

If you want to help save America, this is the most important thing we can do!

God-fearing people will be gathering for a time of fellowship and prayer for our government, military, media, business, education, church and families.

Wear your One Nation Under God shirts if you have one.

May God continue to bless our great Christian nation, the United States of America. May we always be a shining example to the rest of the world, only because we are One Nation Under God!

In the Name of Jesus The Christ,

and For God and My Country,
