The Role of the U.S. President under America's King

As the Presidential inauguration day approaches, a day when our nation acknowledges the 44th President of the United States of America; it is especially important to acknowledge our King, our true Sovereign.

George Washington deferred taking on the title, assuming instead the role as the first President of the United States, because America already had a King!
America has always had a King, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords; who has always ruled over our country and those who came to establish this nation.
Modern education being what it is, bares responsibility, that many of our younger citizens have not heard about, or been taught about, America's King.

One of the criticisms I sometimes hear, from those not very passionate about the concept of renewing America's commitment to it's Judeo-Christian roots, or restoring this country to our former Biblical based values, is:
"Your organization mentions "God" too often. It turns some people off."
That is kind of difficult not to do with an organization named, "One Nation Under God U.S.A."; whose members portray the name of God on their shirts, membership pins, and vehicle stickers, precisely so people in the community will see it.
The people who are turned off by the mentioning of God, and the gone soft citizens who try to appease them, are the reason America is sliding into spiritual, moral, and economic decline!

A known point of reference:
When a Boeing 767 flies from New York to London, the pilot will plot his course, and head the plane toward a know point of reference. The disturbing thing is that the plane, that technological marvel, is off course 99 percent of the time. The plane will drift to the left, off course; then computers will correct the error and steer the plane back on course. When the plane steers too far to the right, the automatic pilot will steer the plane back to the know point of reference. This happens over and over, as the plane travels over a huge body of water, eventually getting the plane to arrive at the correct destination.
The word of God, the Bible, has always been America's absolute direction, keeping us on track so we achieve the proper goals, and have the right outcome. When we as individuals, or as a nation, have drifted too far left or too far right, God's word, his laws, have served to guide us back on track, over and over again since this nation was founded.
Our founding fathers so valued this direction, that they carved God's name and His words in the marble and the stone, of almost every government building. They wrote God's name, and gave credit to the Creator and our Sustainer in almost every government document for the last two hundred years. They even printed God's name on our money.

King David also understood the need for a known point of reference, an absolute right direction to travel in when governing a nation. He knew where his nation's strength and blessings came from:
"O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  - Psalm 119:97-105

Dr. Shadrach Meshach (S.M.) Lockridge (March 7, 1913 - April 4, 2000) was a former high school English teacher who later became the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, California from 1953 to 1993. Dr. Lockridge did an excellent job introducing America's king in a recorded 5 minute and 33 second speech, entitled, "That's my King!". I have attached both the audio and text copies for you to enjoy.

As America inaugurates another human President to lead us into the years ahead, both the President - Elect, and the American people, would do well to consider the words of our first human President, George Washington, who knew that he could not succeed in life without using God's divine laws to direct him to back on course.
"...Make me to know what is acceptable in Thy sight, and therein to delight, open the eyes of my understanding, and help me thoroughly to examine myself concerning my knowledge, faith, and repentance, increase my faith, and direct me to the true object, Jesus Christ the Way, the Truth, and the Life, ..."

  - President George Washington

Take the time to read the rest of President Washington's prayer (attached). It will become evident just how much this great human leader depended upon God.
"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors."  - President George Washington

The Presidential Inauguration will soon be upon us. Watch it on television, and compare it to the day when the sixteenth President of the United States, called on Americans to think and reason, have a love for Country, be good Christians, and rely on Our Creator and his laws, to restore America from its present difficulties, when he placed his hand upon the Bible reaffirming America as One Nation Under God. I ask you to pray that this Inauguration will be a repeat of the one on March 4, 1861. We as a people, desperately need it.

"Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance on Him, Who has never yet forsaken this favored land, are still competent to adjust, in the best way, all our present difficulty." - Abraham Lincoln, Inaugural Address

May God continue to bless America!
